about our new service lineup. . .
We’re excited to announce our new Saturday Night Service beginning April 2, 2011. Saturday night will be a combination of the Young Adult Remnant meeting as well as the Sunday Evening Encounter service. It will not only be a dynamic and contemporary service, it will also be geared for those who are hungry for more of God and who desire revival.
How did this change come about?
Pastor Randy and the HWC staff have been praying about changes in the HWC service lineup since early 2010 in response to the direction of the Lord saying, “move the pulpit”. The initial concept of Saturday night service was released in the Houston Vision video that premiered during the 2010 International Conference and has since been available on the HWC website. On February 27, 2011, or “Vision Sunday”, the official launch of Saturday Night Service on April 2, 2011 was announced.
We believe that our new service lineup is an important and strategic move, directed by the Holy Spirit, that will help us reach Houston with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What about Sunday evenings?
Our final Sunday evening service will be held on March 20, 2011.
As a part of our new service lineup, we seek to empower the congregation of HWC with more time; both for rest and for family. We encourage all members of HWC to utilize Sunday evening as an opportune time to spend with family.
Additionally, Sunday evening will now become an premiere time for conferences and special meetings.
What will happen with TakeOver Youth?
Our TakeOver youth team is excited about the new opportunities this schedule presents, as TakeOver will be moving to Wednesday nights at 6:30pm. Most notably, TakeOver will now be held in a larger meeting venue at the HWC gym! We look forward to the incredible new reaching-potential this brings to impact the youth of Houston.
The first Wednesday night TakeOver in the gym will be held on March 30, 2011.
As a member of HWC, am I expected to go to church Saturday night and Sunday morning?
Saturday night is being created as a complete church service in and of itself.
We are aware that many people love to attend church twice each weekend, and that opportunity is still available for those who want to attend both the Saturday night and Sunday morning services.
However, the general expectation of an HWC member is to attend one weekend service - whether it is the Saturday night or Sunday morning. Please feel released to pray and let the Lord direct you as to which service or services to attend on the weekend.
(Also, we are continually seeking to expand our mid-week opportunities to build community with one another. Wednesday Night Connect at 7pm will continue, and we will have more information on the expansion of Life Groups coming soon...)
How can I get involved in launching the Saturday night service?
We are looking for team of people to help us bring this vision to life in a dynamic way.
